Give More and Receive More

The number one fire that burns in every human being is the desire to feel satisfied. In order to do that, many people struggle to succeed because they are doing it the wrong way! By trying to make yourself happy, you must be selfless. It sounds ironic, but I promise it makes sense. Let me explain.

Think of a time that you felt totally lost in your life. To find guidance, you probably studied your  options, thought it out for a while, and maybe even some of you prayed. This was a difficult time for you wasn't it? While all of those things are good to do, there is one missing piece that will help tie your solution together: service.

On LDS.org, if you type in "service" in the search box, the very first paragraph describes service in a way that resembles our Savior Jesus Christ.

"Service to others is an important characteristic of a disciple of Jesus Christ. A disciple is willing to bear other people’s burdens and to comfort those who need comfort. Often Heavenly Father will meet the needs of others through you."

It is important that we are thoughtful unto others in order to serve not only them, but Heavenly Father as well.

While doing acts of service unto others on a regular basis,  you will grow yourself of happiness and gratitude. You will learn to be thankful for what you have and you will understand more about the lives of others rather than your own. If you don't focus on only yourself, I promise that you will receive more answers and guidance in your life. God will bless you.

I was searching through YouTube and found a video project of a small boy waiting at a cold bus station for his ride. This boy had no jacket, and there was a hidden camera to see how many people would offer this boy their jacket. It is truly a touching video to watch and it makes you wonder if you would have done the same.

In 2 Nephi 28:13 of the Book of Mormon, it talks about greed.

"They rob the poor because of their fine sanctuaries; they rob the poor because of their fine clothing; and they persecute the meek and the poor in heart, because in their pride they are puffed up."

Learn to be selfless, and give to others. Through being selfless and compassionate to everyone around us, we will be better guided and we will not only benefit others and God, but ourselves. We will be blessed and of service to our Heavenly Father. I promise these things because I have felt this myself and I know that through service we can be closer to our Heavenly Father. I testify these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

No Need to Worry

For those of you who don’t know, we as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, believe in Christ’s Atonement. Through this, our sins can be forgiven. Christ died on the cross for us so that we could have this opportunity.
Now think of a moment when you did something that you knew was wrong and you would get in trouble for. For example, this might be something that you did as a child. When I was in kindergarten, my family’s dining table had six cushioned chairs for us to sit at as we ate. The two chairs at each end of the table were the only ones with wooden armrests on them. My dad was the only one at the table who consistently sat in the head chair with the arm rests, and I was jealous. Everyone always took turns on sharing the other chair, but my dad consecutively got the same “king chair,” as I had called it, every night for dinner. I really wanted those arm rests. One day I had a miraculous idea that I thought would help me get my rule over that chair. I grabbed a ballpoint pen, got on my knees and leaned over the seat of the chair, and drew each letter of my name down a row of those checkers on the cushion. “M-a-n-d-y.” I knew I was going to get in big trouble for it, but I just wanted to win and make that chair mine!

Obviously now that I am older, I deal with more serious situations where I am faced with a choice that could potentially make it to where I need to repent and ask God for forgiveness for what I have done.
Now I am not saying that you should never make mistakes, nor am I saying that I always choose the right thing. However, I am saying that we always have a choice. For those of us who constantly choose the option that hurts us spiritually, there strikes a sense of fear of God. Aren’t you afraid after you do something that your mom wouldn’t approve of, to get confronted by your mom about it? The same thing applies to choosing wrong and facing God.
In 2 Nephi 9:40, it states, “I know that the words of truth are hard against all uncleanness; but the righteous fear them not, for they love the truth and are not shaken.”

It is important that we always strive to live in a way that our Heavenly Father will be proud of us. He sent His son for us so that we can repent of our sins and return to live with Him again someday. If we live righteously we will live a life full of eternal happiness and we will feel comfortable in the presence of God.
